Our Mission

TVHRA’s mission is to support and promote the increased professional development of our members. We are an affiliate chapter of TheSociety for Human Resource Management, the largest H.R. association in the world.

TVHRA offers chapter sponsored study groups to assist individuals prepare for the HRCI Certification exam. The exams are administered in Knoxville twice a year. Human Resource Certification is the symbol of professional achievement. Professional Certification in human resource management is accomplished through the Human Resource Certification Institute.

The institute offers two levels of certification–Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Each level has different experience requirements which must be met before a candidate may take the examination. The PHR and SPHR designation signifies that you have mastered the HR body of knowledge.

The Certification maintains the nationally recognized standards set by individuals working in the profession.Individuals who have actively participated in study groups have greatly increased their chances of passing the exam. Study groups meet for 11 weeks, two hours per week (usually on Mondays).
